CHAPTER 3 - Robert Mongero (Masters)

The cold bit into my skin, encompassed with a harsh winter. Alnovia looked beautiful when winter passed our way. It was decorated with traces of snow and lacey snowflakes falling gracefully. Even though flurries of snow were evident, the sun was scorching. I regretted the decision of the three-layered clothes I had worn. This month is when the ice nymphs take over the Great Forest, making sure its survival is not dwindling. They protect the forest from the harsh and bitterly cold winter, by making it suitable for the climate, so its magic doesn't perish. Dabbling with their magic too, to make the forest look embellished for extravagance. Flamboyancy was their nature perhaps.

Jebediah had been walking through the snow-clad areas, stomping vigorously in the snow, and walking fast. I was barely able to catch up with him, not to mention it infuriated me with no clue to where the heck we were going. We maintained the fast pace and kept moving. The sun glistened its last rays and settled behind the horizon. The night welcomed us with a dark starry sky.

“How much longer, it's getting dark!” I screamed out

Jeb maintained his fast pace and said nothing.

“Bastard, I’m talking to you” Nothing.

“Keep your hat on and slim it, we’re almost there!” he exasperated furiously. “We’ve been at this for freakin’ 2 hours!” I retorted. He stopped. We were standing in front of this wooden cabin right on the borderlines to Valsik Zsecktham.

“JEB!!” I shouted with the last ounce of strength I could revive.

“We’re here” Then he whispered something, those words echoed through Alnovia and all the leaves rustle, and Valsik magicks to life. Nymphs, trolls, cyclops, and dryads magic trembles over that name. 30 years now, my skin tingles hearing that name.

“The Lost Infant of Zantam”

“Kia really wants the table centerpieces to be straight and proper, radiant lavender was the wedding theme color. Honestly, I’m not smart in this shit” Robert joked flashing his 16-year old grin saying I’m-getting-married-but-please-help-me-get-out-of-this.

Jeb tied his shoe very delicately, his mind filled with statistics about the new theater coming up in Lzabana, North Alnovia. His mind wavered every minute, ever since his best friend Robert proposed to his girlfriend Kia. Half of him was pissed off that he was delaying his duties as a General at the same time being happy for him. Shit, I need to prepare my best man speech too.

“Yeah bro, um Dinfazar wanted us quick to speculate the changes in the theater, some people complained about vulgar performances. Mostly teenagers requested to see a girl doing a pole dance, I mean hell yeah I would go and see that shit. But sometimes being General sucks” Jeb laughed

“Are you listening” Jeb lifted his head?

Robert was giggling over the last letter he got from Kia. Love letter.

“Huh? No, yeah Um. No bro, not today I’ve gotta check on the wedding cake and the band for the wedding” Rob rattled off.

Jeb stood up “Robert”

“Man, I’m sorry I’ll see it next time”

“We both built this together with our sweat and blood. But no, sure you can go and check on the band. But you can next time. But oh wait. Next time, You will have another crap thing going. Cos how many you skipped?” Jeb sarcastically counted his fingers “Yeah sorry not that many fingers. 16!”

Silence lingered between them. Jeb ran his head through his cornrows “It’s my wedding man. Sometimes I don't even think you care. I know theater is our passion, but next time?”

“Next time, not forgiving your sorry ass” Jeb puffed
